Nice long weekend of music making- between busking 7 hours yesterday at the 6th ave L, to writing a 100 measure chromatic jazz etude (ala Liebman) to designing an entire 4-year jazz studies program at a hypothetical state university, to transcribing note-for-note this one particular performance of Thunder Road, to practicing all 24 permutations of the 1235 transposed across all 5 modes of both the minor 6 and major pentatonic scales (that’s 240 of em), I’m surprised I’m still standing!

Anyway, I’m glad that the grand NYC adventure has been off to a good start, and the ball has started to roll in a bunch of directions already. I have a bunch of exciting gigs scheduled for the month of January including (but certainly not limited to) Thursday nights at Cafe Cielo near Times Square, Wednesday nights at Arlene’s Grocery in the Lower East Side, a slot at Cafe Vivaldi in the Village, and potentially a Saturday night thing playing keys (!!!), in addition to (hopefully) a performance of a big band thing of mine at a recital up at MSM. This is after I play at the Signature Theater Holiday Cabaret back in DC (and enjoy a Christmas in Florida with the family). Hopefully you can come out and see me then!
